Ladies and Gentlemen. It is with great sadness I have to report that Tony Melody, our Gyroplane Expert and good friend of 50+ years has moved on to higher places.

Tony passed away in his sleep on Sunday morning 9th June 2024. As many of you will know, Tony was completely irreplaceable. Charles Anderson can still give you the Technical Training and prepare you for Rotorcraft (G) theory tests (UK and USA) but we are no longer in a position to offer you a complete course. As from June 1st we will commence our Gyroplane courses. You will learn the full theory behind these amazing craft before trying your hand at flying for yourself under the supervision of our chief Gyrocopter expert. You can chosoe to learn the engineering aspects of this type of ‘Rotorcraft’; learn to fly them; attend the full A-B initio including taking your flight test and gaining certification or the full extended course (recommended) which covers everything from the theory of flight through understanding weather systems and how to obtain information for flight planning to technical detail of all the components and how to check and maintain them.

In 2019 Charles and Tony completely rebuild and certified my Gyro. Both complete experts in their own right. Charles is an expert on these two stroke engines and taught me many things that are not written in the manual and I have never had any faults since. Fixed Wing pilots are often used to a vast array of ‘Steam Gauges’ for measuring everything imaginable. When thinking of transitioning to Gyros, they often ask us how much safety equipment it is possible to install. We like to show the following video tongue in cheek before explaining that just about all the information available in a fixed wing light aircraft can easily transition to these lightweight craft without the need for vacuum pumps and bulky equipment.
